The shuttlecock (or birdie) in badminton is composed of a cork base and approximately 16 feathers that form a cone shape. In the game of golf a score of one below par on a hole is referred to as a birdie whereas a score two below par is called an eagle or a double birdie. Birdie Tebbetts was considered one of the best fielding catchers of the 1940s and after his playing career he coached for three different teams.
