In bowling, a split is when two or more pins remain standing after the first ball, but there's a wide enough gap in between them as to make bowling a spare difficult. The 7-10 split is the most difficult. In blackjack, splitting is when the dealer deals you two matching cards and you choose to use the option of splitting those two cards so that you now have two hands to play. In ballet a split is a physical position in which the dancer's legs are in line with each other and extended pointing in opposite directions.
